The cable car
The cable has been used in major cities across the country since late 1860. The first cable car system was held in New York and the system was called the West Side and Yonkers Patent Railway. The railroad ran July 1, 1868 to 1870, but had to be closed and rebuilt. When the system re-opened it was run by a steam locomotive. The very first system to use grips funicular was the Clay Street Hill Railroad, which later became in a part of San Francisco cable car system, one of the most recognized not only the country but also worldwide.
This form of transport is used to transport pedestrians and work, home, school, shops, restaurants, movie theater, and anywhere else they wish to go along the route of the car. The cable is fed by a cable. When pressure is applied on the cable, the car starts moving forward. When the pressure is removed from the cable, the car starts to come to a stop. Since the success of the system of San Francisco continued to grow, other cities not only the country but also the world realized and began to build their own transportation systems. Chicago added a railway system, Dunedin, New Zealand did the same, of London ran his first system, and other world cities.
As of today there are not many systems still operating cable car. The system of San Francisco is the only country movement National Historic Landmark (which started in 1873) and the other only operating system in the country are in Las Vegas, Nevada. The system has customers in Las Vegas between three hotels. The only other operator in the world is located in Milan, Italy. This system takes the guests of Hotel San Rafael Cascina station Gobba. Cable cars are closed and may contain very few people. There are seats and hold polls if passengers do not have room to sit in the car. Can be rented for weddings and one of the most famous scenes of the Tanner family television is a cable car in San Francisco at the opening of the show "Full House."
